FAST! and its members in France were delighted to contribute and participate in a successful celebration of 20 yrs of scientific collaboration between France and Aotearoa New Zealand. The event was hosted by Ambassador Caroline Bilkey at the NZ residence in Paris and gathered more than 30 guests including French scientists from CNRS, INRAE, Inria, Ecole Polytechnique, MNHN, Sorbonne Université, and a large NZ delegation of AI & data scientists led by Prof Stephen MacDonnell from Victoria University.
For this special occasion, FAST! celebratory book, launched last May at the Royal Society Te Aparangi in Wellington, was presented and copies signed with a special acknowledgement of contributing authors present at the event. Many fruitful discussions happened in a very convivial atmosphere with new connections to be fostered in the future between FAST! network and AI scientific community in NZ. One of the many highlights of the evening was the consultation of an original edition of the Atlas of Dumont d’Urville’s Astrolabe voyage in 1826-29
Our sincere thanks to Ambassador Caroline Bilkey for hosting this excellent event !
