Launched by France’s President Emmanuel Macron, the Make Our Planet Great Again initiative has met with worldwide enthusiasm, generating expressions of interest from a large number of highly qualified students and researchers. The following calls for proposals are now open.
Launched on June 2, 2017 by French president Macron, the “Make Our Planet Great Again” initiative received 11,000 messages from students, researchers, teachers, entrepreneurs and NGO directors. The applications come from about 100 countries, and mostly from the US (61%). They are mainly oriented towards the energy, ecosystems, atmosphere and oceanography industries.
In addition to the program dedicated to researchers in long stays, 4 new programs with the label “Make Our Planet Great Again” were launched in March 2018, supervised by Campus France and financed by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI).
1. A part-financing program for PhD contracts: institutions will received part-financing totalising 50,000€ to host a PhD student for 3 years. About 20 PhD students will receive financing for thesis starting in 2018.
2. A part-financing program of post-PhD contracts: host institutions will receive part-financing up to 25,000€ for a year and 50,000€ for two years to host a post-PhD student. 20 to 40 post-PhD students will receive financing for stays starting in 2018.
3. A research short stay program: mobility financing from 14 days to 5 months for PhD students or researchers in France. At least 40 mobilities financed for stays solely in 2018.
4. A program of excellence scholarships up to 1,060€/months for students who want to come for 2 years in Masters or a year in Masters 2 (degree equivalent to the grade of Masters’): about 50 scholarships for the start of academic year 2018.
All tenders are now open and applications may be sent from March 12 to April 6 (March 30 for PhD). The selection process will include experts and an international committee representing various fields for the call for projects.
